Natural Pilates’ Owner and Master Trainer, Laura Wilson, reviews muscle function in the lower body based on range of motion and muscular attachment points. We look at muscles as active forces within the body that work on our internal structures, namely the skeletal system. Using Elsevier’s 3D4Medical application, we can see how the muscles of the hip and knee connect to the joints in the lower body to create movement. Traditionally, muscle function is taught in a neutral position, however, our bodies move and change position in space during exercise. The goal of this workshop is not to memorize muscles and joints, but to truly understand how muscles are recruited to create motion in the joints of the lower limb.
